POTTERY   FOR   ALL

Pottery for all, is one of the reasons why we have created "Les Monarcas de Barro" when we put ourselves in the role of looking for spaces to access ceramics from practice and learning, we saw that the spaces and opportunities are very limited and each time marginalization affects us once again, as in this case it is access to ceramics.

As a South-American inmigrant woman Vanesa and Kevin, Son of Central American inmigrants, we decided to join with our community and allies to create these accessible spaces for our community, from safe places, free of racialization, stigmas for sexual identities, stigmas for senophobia, to create ceramic spaces based on social justice, among them is also the access to ceramics in Spanish (language justice).

We thank the community for being part.
We thank our allies for supporting this process, the Studio of Bklyn Clay and Clayworks on Columbia. For helping us make this dream come true.

TESTIMONIALS

"I give thanks for giving me the scholarship to learn how to make clay pots knowing ancient techniques, as well as clayworks for the opportunity and the welcome. This workshop allows us to explore outside what the industry offers, knowing that with ancient techniques we can create fantastic and utilitarian pots.
Using our body as a mold, a stick and a cob etc, things that nature offers us, we can explore.
I would do it again and of course I recommend it to anyone who wants to learn pottery from scratch."
